Budget 101: How to Prepare a Grant Budget

Grant budgeting is challenging, boring and complicated, yet it’s an essential part of planning how you will spend the funder’s money. Most of us weren’t born knowing how to intuitively manage a grant or its budget, but here’s the good news – grant budgeting is a skill set that anyone can learn and we can teach you!
In the Grant Budgeting workshop, you will learn:
· What a Grant Budget is
· What to include in a GB
· Expenses vs Income
· What is an In-kind expense
· Direct vs In-direct costs
· How to calculate fringe benefits
· Sample grant budget
· Practical tips
Lulie Negreira has been the Finance Director at the Center for Social Change for three years. She spent 25 years working on grant administration, including 10 years of grant financial management experience.
Lorinda Gonzalez of Grants, Ink. brings over 10 years of grant writing experience to the conversation. Her grant seeking efforts have led to over $14M in awarded funds from government, local and private funders. She has taught over 100 workshops and is continually seeking new opportunities to learn the latest trends in proposal development, which she openly shares with students and clients.
