Hello Everyone, my name is Olga Tranquilino and I am originally from Kharkiv, Ukraine. I have been living in Miami, FL for more than 20 years.
Since the beginning of the war, I was approached by different people and organizations asking how we can help Ukraine. As more and more time passed by, requests rose to help as people knew I was from there and I have family and very close friends in my hometown, Kharkiv.
I have been looking for different opportunities to help Ukraine by donating to some large non-profit organizations but found, that at times, due to the current situation, the humanitarian help doesnβt always reach its destination, especially in very affected areas like Kharkiv, Donetsk and Luhansk. Because of this, I decided to organize my own project for Ukraine.
Back in March, I connected to a small organization called OMMIO Volunteers in Krakow, Poland, that has a mission that goes through the Ukrainian-Polish border and saves lives and also helps distributing humanitarian help such as medical supplies, baby items, baby food, etc. I know exactly where things go. I have started some packages for this organization and was able to ship some out but I would like to do more.
That is where the idea for The Red Rue Project was initiated the essential idea of which is to expand the help I have already been providing.
Meaning of the Red Rue: a red rue is a flower that grows in the western part of Ukraine. It has gained its popularity through a pop song of the same title inspired by its local legends. This flower has many different symbolic connotations that connect to strong love, good luck and enchantment but one of its symbolisms is the representation of victory. This project is designed to help win this victory for Ukraine over its struggle for its freedom today.
Mission: the Mission of the Red Rue Project is to help people who are still living in Ukraine including children, civilians and military by providing essential goods for them such as food, medicine, clothes, etc.
I will be looking for monetary donations to cover shipping costs and to buy supplies in demand. I will also be looking for donations of supplies to be shipped over to Ukraine.
